Victory Point is an authentic community that equips Jesus followers to live out their faith everyday so neighbors and nations will hear the Good News.

Discover your value in Christ as you embrace the call given by Jesus. Victory Point Church is a place where you’ll realize that God has crafted you uniquely and wonderfully for a distinct purpose. It’s an authentic, multi-generational community that equips Jesus followers to live out their faith everyday.

  • Victory Point Church has a unique history. Two local emerging church plants, both in the Christian Reformed Church denomination and each with a heart for outreach, became friends and in 1992 merged together to form Victory Point Ministries. Initially gathering at the West Ottawa Performing Arts Center, the church later established its permanent home on Ransom Street in 1999, where the current campus is located.

With a foundation deeply rooted in evangelism and outreach, Victory Point Church underwent various shifts over the years as a young church seeking to discover its emerging identity. In 2012 clarity arose among leadership, realizing that Jesus hadn’t called His followers to build a church, but to make disciples. That conviction sent Victory Point in a direction to create and cultivate a church culture that puts discipleship and mission in the hands of everyone. It’s a mission that is still driving the church forward.

Today Victory Point Church exists as a non-denominational church and is committed to operating in Kingdom friendship and community. Victory Point Church continues to link arms with like-minded, like-hearted churches, both locally and across the country, networking together to help each other continue to make disciples of Jesus who make disciples.

  • Making disciples who live a Jesus-shaped life.

A Jesus-shaped life is a life patterned after Jesus:

GATHER as Family - gather IN spiritual family with other believers

GROW as Disciples - growing UP in relationship with the Father

GO as everyday Missionaries - Go OUT as everyday missionaries to share the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven.

  • o   Gospel Transformation

Jesus alone changes lives.   We believe that the Good News of Jesus is the power to redeem us, free us, and continually transform us and all creation into the Kingdom of God. Jesus is our message. He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life worth living.

    o   Humble Dependency

Apart from God we can do nothing.   We will stay connected and surrendered to God through worship, prayer and obedience to His Word. We anchor ourselves in how God reveals Himself to us through the Scriptures and are sensitive to the voice and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

    o   Sacrificial Living

Giving up our way for His way.   We trust in God's provision and live empowered by the Spirit to daily put the needs of others first, joyously giving back and sharing all that God has entrusted to us. Jesus gave his life away for us, and we will seek to do the same for others. Generosity is our privilege.

    o   Spiritual Family

Oneness is our witness.  We will follow Jesus not only individually but in community, and not just on Sundays but during the week by learning to live as spiritual family on mission. In Christ we have been adopted into a new community with Jesus at the center. Loving and serving Him and others well in unity is a sign to the world that Jesus’ love exists.

    o   Everyday Disciples

Disciples making disciples.   We are all called to a disciple-making lifestyle. In community and through the Spirit’s empowerment we will continually value development, teaching and equipping everyone to increasingly become like Christ and multiply Jesus’ life in others.

    o   Go Everywhere

Showing and sharing the good news of Jesus to everyone.  We go in compassion to our neighborhoods and to the nations to show and share the gospel of Jesus, which includes being a voice for the voiceless, freeing the oppressed and loving the outcast.

  • We are a community of disciples focused on following Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit in order to carry out God’s mission in the world. We root ourselves in the Bible as our scriptural authority and in the historical faith of Christians throughout the centuries, as classically expressed in the Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,  suffered under Pontius Pilate,  was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell;  on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

(* the word catholic in this context means “universal” Church of Jesus Christ)

  • 1. God

We believe in one God who created all things and sustains all things by His sovereign power. He is Holy, eternally existing in unity as three divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality. By his providence He is operating throughout history to fulfill His redemptive purposes of redeeming a people to Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.

    2. Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God, one person in two natures: fully God and fully man in the incarnation. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect sinless life in obedience to the Father, He was crucified, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God where He is our great High Priest who is our one and only mediator between man and God. He will return to earth personally, bodily, visibly, and gloriously at a time only known to God to complete and fulfill history and His eternal plan of the redemption of all things.

    3. Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God, and at work in the world today to reveal and glorify Jesus Christ. He convicts humanity of our sin and regenerates us into new life in Christ. He indwells every believer to be the source of assurance of salvation, guides us, strengths, illuminates the scriptures for obedience, and uniquely endows each believer with gifts to build up the Church. We affirm that all of the biblical gifts of the Spirit are at work in the church today and He empowers believers to live in the way of Jesus for His glory.

    4. Bible

We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament. The Scriptures originated entirely from God and were written down by human authors through God’s inspiration. The Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged.

Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.

    5. Humanity

We believe, beginning with Adam and Eve, God created humanity in His image and likeness with love and purpose to be in relationship with Him. But because of Adam and Eve’s sin against God, all human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, and therefore all human beings are alienated from God, under His wrath, and experience both physical and spiritual death. Our sin created this separation and its consequences affect all of humanity and creation, and it is only through God’s gracious saving work in Jesus Christ that we can be rescued, reconciled and renewed.

    6. Salvation

We believe that God provides the only way for our salvation through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Jesus was our representative and substitution, He shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only grounds for salvation. By God’s grace and mercy He invites all human beings to receive His good and perfect gift of salvation. Only by turning to Him in repentance and by faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ does someone become a new creation and a child of God.

    7. Church

We believe that God’s Church is made up of all disciples of Jesus who have experienced salvation. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which Jesus is the Head. God’s Church is manifest in local expressions, under the watchful care of elders, apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, teachers, and other supportive leadership. In love and unity, by regularly gathering and continually going, its members work together for the purpose of glorifying Christ and living out the Good News of His Kingdom by showing and sharing the gospel in the everyday rhythms of life.

The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.

    8. Living the Way of Jesus

We believe that God's justifying grace is not separate from His sanctifying power and purpose. Jesus modeled the exemplary human life, empowered by the Holy Spirit, that we are to imitate and pattern our lives after. Living the way of Jesus includes intentionally pursuing and growing in relationship (up) with the Father, (in) with spiritual community and (out) on mission in our community and world. Our covenant relationship with God involves participation in His Kingdom mission. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.

    9. Human destiny

We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that, as part of Christ’s return, God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment separated from God and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and new earth.
